UPS BLUES

The view from the end of the street, facing my house.  Address number ###05 on the front.

What you see when you look to the left side of the house.  If I'm not at home, the Blue Honda isn't there, so it's even more clear.
MY DOOR.

I have known more than a few UPS drivers in my time.  I have generally found them to be smart, hard working competent people.  Some have gone over and above what I would normally expect from them.

Which is why it's really shocking and infuriating when I find myself dealing with one that is everything but.  And UPS, when I can find a way to reach them, provides lip service, but does -nothing-.    UPS these days, claims to offer a lot of services, but their reputation, still, is built upon a single, simple core competency-- their ability to ship...AND DELIVER...packages.

I live at the end of a short private street, about 100-150 yards long.  It ends at my house.  My house is a DUPLEX.  Triplex, actually, but my neighbor and I share a house number.  It is divided into separate living spaces-- the main portion for the landlord, and a part for me and a part for my neighbor,  Paul.  The addresses are ###05 for the landlord, and ###07 for myself and Paul.

I recently built myself a new computer.  I ordered all the parts from Newegg.  They were all DELIVERED.  By UPS...  When it was done, I realized there were a few more items I wanted to add.  I ordered them. From Newegg.  In the meantime, UPS apparently put a new driver on the route that services my address.  This driver...  I do not know what their excuse is.  Incompetent? Lazy? Unable to turn their head to the left? The inability to conceive of a house that is a duplex? Illiterate?.. Whatever it is, it's not a good one.

This driver has brought these NewEgg packages to my house now, something like four or five times, and *left with them* as well, claiming there was an "error in the street address".   There is, of course, no error.  I called UPS customer service and spoke to "Tasha".  She seemed to understand the problem and relayed the information to my local UPS facility and told me I would be called by them.

I was.  I received a call from 'Shane', who assured me they now understood the nature of the problem and would have the packages re-delivered to me by the next day.  That was last week.   As of this writing, tracking info informs me they have both been 'returned to Sender' and are closing in on City of Industry, CA... which is nowhere near my home in Shoreline Washington.

Neither of these items are life and death to me.  I won't pretend that.  But I order a *lot* of things online.  And I receive them from various shippers.

FedEx can find my address and my door.  DHL can find my address and my door. Amazon contract drivers, who don't even have a ROUTE, but just have to by guess and by god and by GPS, can find my address and my door.  THE PIZZA GUY CAN FIND MY ADDRESS AND MY DOOR.

BUT WHO CAN'T FIND MY ADDRESS AND MY DOOR?  THE NEW UPS DRIVER CAN'T FIND MY ADDRESS AND MY DOOR.  I NEED A DIFFERENT DRIVER, UPS!!  NEVER MIND THE PACKAGES, I'LL TELL NEWEGG TO SHIP THEM WITH SOMEONE ELSE, BUT I WANT SOMEONE DELIVERING WHO IS SMART ENOUGH TO OPEN THEIR EYES AND LOOK TO THE LEFT!

THANK YOU...
